Off The Beach (OTB) is the dinghy sailing section of the Royal Geelong Yacht Club. It is run by a group of volunteers, parents and is supported by the staff and facilities of the Royal Geelong Yacht Club. OTB offers a safe and active environment for juniors, youth and adults to learn sailing in a variety of boats.
OTB includes all smaller sailboats that can launch off a ramp or beach including Opti's, Cadets, Pacers, Contenders, Tasars, 29ers, 49ers and Lasers, Fireballs, Impulse and OK dinghies. Throughout the Summer Season (October - April) there is junior, youth and mixed classes aggregate racing every Saturday. Winter racing is on every 2 to 3 weeks (June to August).
If you are sailing on your own boat at the Club, storage and lockers are available on application. We welcome all newcomers and RGYC Members to participate in sailing and social activities year round. For further information please contact RGYC on 5229 3705
Diarmuid has chaired the OTB Working Group (OTB organizing group) for the 2017/18 season. He is a keen sailor, both keelboats and dinghies, and his children are active sailors in Cadets and Lasers at the Club.
OTB Winter Training
With the Royal Geelong Yacht Club’s desire to transition into a Training Centre of Excellence, as a first step, this Winter we as a Club, are embarking on a bold new Coaching program to not only enhance sailing skills but to create opportunity and a strong foundation for future growth.
Coaching for our junior classes, the Cadet and Optimist, plus the opportunity for all OTB sailors to participate, this initiative will cover the winter months and be a fantastic basis for next season’s competition and sailing activities. Congratulations and thank you to all involved and I look forward to seeing our fleets’ development.
