Timeline
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club Board wishes to advise Members on the timeline in regards to the 2024 Annual General Meeting, and election of the Board.
Board Election Voting may be undertaken in-person or electronically (Tuesday 27 August 2024 and Wednesday 28 August 2024)
- In-Person Board Election Voting Process (Tuesday 27 August 2024 and Wednesday 28 August 2024: 8.30am – 6.00pm each day)
- Present to RGYC reception to collect your voting ballot form. In person Board Election voting forms can only be collected on Tuesday 27 August 2024 and Wednesday 28 August 2024 from 8.30am – 6.00pm.
- You will be asked to fill out the voting form and return to the RGYC reception before 6.00pm Wednesday 28 August 2024.
- Electronic Board Election Voting Process (8.30am Tuesday 27 August 2024 to 6.00pm Wednesday 28 August 2024)
- Electronic voting requires a voting ID. To acquire your voting ID, voting portal link and instructions, please contact the RGYC reception via [email protected] or 5229 3705 within the hours of 8.30am to 6.00pm on Tuesday 27 August and Wednesday 28 August 2024.
- Electronic Board Election voting commences at 8.30am on Tuesday 27 August 2024 and concludes at 6.00pm on Wednesday 28 August 2024.
- Absentee voting may be undertaken in person or electronically (9.30am on Monday 19 August 2024 to 5.00pm Monday 26 August 2024)
- In-Person Absentee Voting Process:
- Present to RGYC reception to collect your absentee voting ballot form. In-Person absentee voting forms can only be collected during office hours from 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
- You will be asked to fill out the form and return to the RGYC reception before 5.00pm on Monday 26 August 2024.
- Electronic Absentee Voting Process:
- Electronic voting requires a voting ID. To acquire your voting ID, voting portal link and instructions, please contact the RGYC reception via [email protected] or 5229 3705.
- Electronic absentee voting commences 9.30am on Monday 19 August 2024. Electronic absentee voting concludes at 6.00pm on Monday 26 August 2024.
Notes
The Returning Officer will declare Board Election results in the clubhouse at approximately 7.00pm on Wednesday 28 August 2024. Members will also be notified of the results of the election via the electronic newsletter by 12.30pm on Thursday 29 August 2024.
- Past Commodores Andrew Neilson and Guyon Wilson have accepted the Board’s invitation to act as scrutineers for the election.
- The Board has appointed Club Administration Coordinator, Emma Atkinson, as the Returning Officer.
- Voting may only be undertaken by eligible members.
Nominations
Nominations for election of Officers and Ordinary Board Members have now closed.
- The number of nominations for the Offices of Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear Commodore, Club Captain and Treasurer did not exceed the number of vacancies, therefore a ballot is not required.
- The number of nominations for the Office of Ordinary Board Member exceeded the number of vacancies (3), therefore a ballot is required and shall be conducted in accordance with the Rules.
At the close of nominations for election of Officers and Ordinary Members of the Board on Monday 5 August 2024, the following nominations had been received:

As the number of nominations for the Offices of Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Rear Commodore, Club Captain and Treasurer did not exceed the number of vacancies, a ballot is not required and the persons nominated shall be duly declared elected at the Annual General Meeting of Royal Geelong Yacht Club Inc., to be held on Thursday 29 August 2024,commencingat 6.30pm.
*Please note that Mike Kelly has withdrawn his nomination for Office of Treasurer.

As the number of nominations (5) for the Office of Ordinary Board Member exceeded the number of vacancies (3),a ballot is required and shall be conducted in accordance with the Rules.
The outcome of the ballot, is determined as follows;
- Ordinary Members of the Board: The candidate with the highest number of votes for the vacancies available will be declared elected. For example, if there are 3 vacancies, the candidates who poll the highest, second highest and third highest votes will be declared elected.
