The Royal Geelong Yacht Club opened its doors to the Greater Geelong community on Sunday for the first of our Community Open Days.

With a good crowd of potential new sailors and members exploring the club and its offerings throughout the day, this event was a resounding success. Visitors showed plenty of interest in both Off The Beach and Keelboat sailing, as well as our Tackers programs offered through the Sailing Academy and the ever-popular Cadet sailing class for juniors.

Sunday also featured the launch of the Sassy Sailing Sisters program. Made possible by a grant provided through the Victorian Government’s Change our Game initiative, the five-month Sassy Sailing Sisters program aims to introduce and develop sailing skills to female participants, as well as a number of disadvantaged Geelong community members.

Program Ambassadors Member for Geelong Christine Couzens MP, and Immediate Past Commodore Stuart Dickson, were on hand to cut the ribbon and officially launch the program which will begin in mid-October.

We look forward to welcoming the program participants to RGYC.
