If you’ve been down to the club lately, you’ve probably noticed that the new Sailing School / OTB Building is really starting to take shape. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the exterior sides going up, and it’s now getting to the point where you can truly start to picture the final product. The building is entering its final stages, and it’s thrilling to see the vision coming to life.
With the exterior nearly complete and the internal fit-out well underway, we’re on track for a grand opening in early 2025. It’s been a long road, especially with the challenges posed by COVID, rising construction costs, and industry upheavals, but the dedication of our team, including former Commodore Roger Bennett and Board Member Chris Manton, has been unwavering. Their hard work has ensured that this project stayed on course, and we’re now seeing the results.
Once finished, this state-of-the-art facility will offer everything from new training rooms and changing facilities to a radio room and offices for our marina and sailing managers. There’s even short-term accommodation, making it a true community asset for the Geelong Waterfront.
We’re incredibly excited about what this building means for the future of our club and the wider community. As we move closer to completion, we invite all members and the local community to share in this exciting time and look forward to what’s ahead.
