2024 Fireball World Championship
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club, in conjunction with the International Fireball Association of Australia, is proudly hosting the 2024 Fireball Australian and World Championships, from the 5th to the 17th February, 2024.
Competitors can expect to enjoy exceptional sailing conditions on the flat waters of Corio Bay, just an hour’s drive from Melbourne airport. February regularly see’s warm temperatures ranging from 20 to 30 degrees, and south-easterly sea breezes in the 10-20 knot range.
RGYC has a long history of involvement with the Fireball class, with regular class racing at the club level as well as playing host to the Australian Championships in 2019.
Getting to RGYC
Geelong is serviced by two major airports. Avalon Airport is just 20 minutes from Geelong, while Melbourne Airport is an hour. Shuttle buses are available from both.
Adventures
Geelong is often called “The Gateway City” due to its central location, surrounded by some of Victoria’s iconic tourist destinations: The Great Ocean Road, the Surf Coast including Bell’s Beach, Otway National Park and the Bellarine Peninsula.
