RGYC sailors and skippers are required to meet certain safety regulations and standards as set by the club, Australian Sailing and Maritime Safety Victoria. Below you will find the resources required to complete these processes. The RGYC boat safety and equipment audit requirements are set by Australian Sailing (AS) in the Racing Rules of Sailing, together with any updates available on the AS website.
For people new to RGYC racing, the Special Regulations can appear overwhelming, but there is plenty of assistance and advice available to owner.
To book an audit, use the booking buttons below or contact Dale Laurie 0407 205 049, Peter Stephens 0447 224 969 or Roger Bennett 0417 124 186.
All vessels racing are required to meet the requirements detailed in the event’s Notice of Race and sailing Instructions. This includes the completion of the correct Equipment Audit form in accordance with the Australian Sailing Special Regulations Part 1.
For Club Racing in 2026-2027, this includes the submission of an Equipment Audit Form to the Sailing Office. The audit must be completed after 1 July 2027 and prior to your first race of the season.
From 1 July 2026, RGYC will revert to using the Australian Sailing Equipment Audit Forms as found on the Australian Sailing website. Submission via the YachtSafe application is no longer required.

Yachts racing at RGYC are no longer required to complete and submit a Man Overboard Declaration as in previous years. However, this does not remove the owner’s responsibility to ensure the safety of all on board, and this includes appropriate training and regular practice at Man Overboard procedures.
RGYC recommends the use of the Man Overboard procedure listed within the Australian Sailing Special Regulations, and regular training with training providers such as the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria.
