Off the Beach Racing

Our Off the Beach (OTB) sailing program is where the journey begins for many sailors at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club. With easy access to the flat waters of Corio Bay, we offer year-round training and racing that caters to sailors of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re just starting or aiming to compete at a higher level, OTB is the perfect place to grow your passion for sailing.

Led by a team of dedicated volunteers, parents, and supported by our RGYC staff, the OTB program creates a safe, fun, and active environment for juniors, youth, and adults. It’s the ideal setting to learn the ropes, sharpen your skills, and enjoy the thrill of racing in a variety of boats.

Year-Round Sailing

Our OTB racing runs from October to April with junior, youth, and mixed classes competing every Saturday. We also keep the momentum going during the cooler months with our winter series on alternating Saturdays from June to August.

Learn to Sail and Beyond

Our Australian Sailing-accredited Discover Sailing Centre and experienced instructors guide new sailors through their first steps on the water. Starting with our Tackers program for kids in the Optimist class, sailors can progress to our International Cadet program and then onto more advanced classes or even keelboat racing.

Exciting New Facilities

With the construction of the new RGYC Shared Use Facility, our OTB sailors will soon enjoy state-of-the-art storage and training spaces, setting the stage for even greater success in the future.
