RGYC Sailors Shine at Etchells World Championship 2025

The Etchells World Championship, held in Brighton from January 10–14, showcased thrilling racing over five days, with outstanding results from RGYC competitors.

RGYC’s TIGER, skippered by Nigel Abbott with crew Rod Hagebols and Chris Manton, delivered a stellar performance, taking out victory in Race 3, presented by the Brisbane Etchells Fleet. Their consistency throughout the series secured them a 12th place overall finish—an incredible result against the world’s best.

Meanwhile, MATILDA, skippered by Blake Robertson with crew Thomas Kelly and William Kelly, also put in a commendable effort, earning a 19th place overall finish. A highlight for Matilda’s team was their impressive 8th place finish in Race 5.

The overall series was won by Magpie AUS1486, skippered by Graeme Taylor with James Mayo, successfully defending their title from the 2024 Championship.
