RGYC Members’ Forum, Sat 30 Nov. 2024

On Saturday, 30th November, the Royal Geelong Yacht Club held its inaugural RGYC Members’ Forum, hosted by Commodore Paul Buchholz and the Board. Despite the wet weather, over 50 members attended, making it a fantastic and productive session.

The forum featured updates on Sailing, Membership and Participation, Events, Facilities and Operations, and Financial Sustainability. Presentations were led by Commodore Paul Buchholz and board members Phil Francis, Chris Manton, and Steve Blackburn. Following the updates, an engaging Q&A session sparked valuable conversations, providing an opportunity for members to share feedback, voice concerns, and offer ideas.

The purpose of these forums is to foster open communication between the club’s leadership and members, strengthen our community, and align strategies with member expectations. By sharing updates and gathering input, the Board aims to build trust, create transparency, and respond to members ideas and concerns. Collaborative discussions at the forum lead to innovative solutions that benefit the entire club.

Encouraged by the success of the event, Commodore Paul Buchholz announced plans for regular forums, with the next session set to take place in early 2025.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all members who attended and contributed to the discussion. Your participation is invaluable in shaping the future of RGYC. We look forward to seeing even more of you at the next Members’ Forum.

Stay tuned for the next date.
