Over 1,100 athletes competed in sailing’s biggest championships, for world titles and Olympic qualification over 10 days in The Netherlands, with the event featuring the debut appearances of Formula Kite kiteboarding and iQFOiL windsurfing.

The 2023 Allianz Sailing World Championships also saw Para Sailing integrated into the event for the first time with four events across three classes.

RGYC’s Alison Weatherly won Australia’s first medal at the event, winning Bronze in the Women’s Hansa 303 on the final day of the Para Sailing World Championships. It will sit alongside the Bronze she won last year and her Silver from 2019.

“This reinforces that I can do this, that I am doing the right thing and I do have the ability,” said Weatherly. “I want to train, get more people sailing and promote how inclusive sailing really is.”
