The Wooden Boat Festival is back in 2024!

The Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong, presented by Wooden Boatshop and Yanmar, is set to rock the Royal Geelong Yacht Club (RGYC) once again in 2024. The Geelong Wooden Boat Festival holds a unique place in the culture of our beautiful city and is driven by a community bound together by a love of wooden boats. We welcome everyone to join and share in celebrating wooden boats over the Labour day long weekend on March 9th – 11th 2024.

This family-friendly festival spectacularly celebrates Australia’s maritime heritage and local history by immersing visitors in the world of wooden boats and their craftsmanship.  Planning and preparations are well underway for this exciting biannual event, located on the picturesque Geelong Waterfront and Corio Bay. Along with the exhibition of these beautiful boats, both afloat and ashore, the festival delivers a lively combination of incredible local food, live entertainment, music, demonstrations and displays. The festivities include boat races, classic boat displays, historic tall ships, FREE family-focused activities such as face painting, FunFit games, pirate treasure hunts, children’s art competitions and live on-shore entertainment. With something for everyone, there will also be cultural displays and performances, a vintage car show, food stalls and the popular ‘Rough and Ready’ boat-building competition – participants design and build a ‘rough’ wooden boat with a carbon neutral propulsion system before putting them to the test in a race around the marina.

We are both priviledged and excited to be bringing this wonderful event back to Geelong in 2024! Stay tuned for further event details and updates and to see how you can get involved!
